Service Workshop – Bubble, Glide, Bolt, and Replit

Lesson 4: Replit – Agent Building, Checkpoints, and Secrets

Lesson Objectives

By the end of this lesson, students should be able to:

  • Build with Replit Agent using staged requests.
  • Use checkpoints to roll back.
  • Store keys in Secrets, never in code.

Lesson Content

Replit (replit.com) offers an AI agent that plans and builds apps, including backends, in a full coding workspace. Key points (verify current details):

  • Effort-based credits: the agent decides how much work a request needs and bills credits accordingly; complex requests cost more.
  • Checkpoints: the agent creates restore points; roll back when a change goes wrong.
  • Secrets: API keys and passwords go in Replit's secrets store, not in code files.
  • Deployments: publishing a live app may have its own costs.
