Lesson 3: Maintaining Brand Consistency Across AI-Assisted Production
Lesson Objectives
By the end of this lesson, students should be able to:
- Establish a brand review workflow for AI-assisted design production
- Train team members on Brand Kit and Brand Voice tools
- Audit AI-generated content for brand consistency
- Identify and address common brand consistency failures in AI output
Lesson Content
Brand review workflow for AI-assisted production.
AI-assisted design production requires a brand review step – verifying that brand standards have been correctly applied before publication. A brand review checklist: brand colors applied correctly (no template default colors remaining); brand fonts used throughout (no template default fonts remaining); brand logos at correct specifications; Brand Voice-consistent copy (or human-written copy where Brand Voice is insufficient); and visual hierarchy appropriate for the brand's design standard.
Training teams on Brand Kit and Brand Voice.
Brand Kit and Brand Voice are only effective if team members know how to use them correctly – training includes: how to access and apply Brand Kit elements; how Brand Voice is enabled and what it guides; how to recognize and correct cases where defaults overrode brand standards; and how to identify content that needs human review despite AI assistance. Team training is a one-time investment that enables ongoing brand consistency without individual correction from the brand lead.
Auditing AI-generated content for brand alignment.
Periodic brand alignment audits review published AI-assisted content against the brand standards: correct color application, consistent typography, appropriate tone in AI-assisted copy, and visual quality that meets the brand's standard. Audit findings inform training needs – patterns of consistent deviation from brand standards indicate areas where training or workflow adjustment is needed.
Common brand consistency failures in AI output.
Common issues to watch for: template default colors not fully replaced with brand colors; generic AI text tone that doesn't match brand voice; stock image placement where brand photography should be used; typography mixing (template fonts and brand fonts used simultaneously in the same design); and AI image styles that don't align with the brand's established visual identity.
