Lesson Content

Opening Text to Image in Canva.

Text to Image is accessed through the Apps panel in the Canva design sidebar. Opening the Apps panel and selecting Text to Image opens the generation interface within the design environment – a prompt field, style options, and a generate button. The tool stays within the Canva workspace rather than opening a separate application.

Entering a prompt and selecting style.

The Text to Image prompt field accepts a text description of the intended image. Style options (Photo, Art, Drawing, and other style categories – verify current options at canva.com) allow specifying the visual treatment of the generated image. Selecting a style is similar to specifying an art style in a standalone AI generation tool – it significantly affects the visual character of the output.

Generating and reviewing results.

After entering a prompt and selecting a style, generating produces multiple image options (typically 4) for review. Review the generated options within the Text to Image panel and select the most suitable result. Generated images can be regenerated if none of the initial results match the intended direction.

Inserting into the design.

The selected generated image can be inserted directly into the active Canva design as a standard image element – drag it onto the canvas or click to add. Once in the design, the generated image behaves like any other image element: resizable, repositionable, and subject to any other Canva editing operations.
