- Use available emphasis or formatting cues where supported
- Handle numbers, abbreviations, and technical terms appropriately
- Troubleshoot common mispronunciation issues
Lesson Content
Pronunciation guidance for unusual words.
Brand names, technical terms, or uncommon words may be mispronounced by default. Many platforms support phonetic spelling adjustments or pronunciation dictionaries to correct this – verify current pronunciation control features at elevenlabs.io, as capabilities vary and evolve.
Emphasis cues.
Where supported, some formatting (capitalization for a specific word, or platform-specific emphasis markup) can guide which words receive vocal emphasis – useful for ensuring a key word or phrase lands with appropriate weight in the delivery.
Handling numbers, abbreviations, and technical terms.
Numbers and abbreviations can be read inconsistently by default (e.g., "Dr." read as "doctor" vs. "dee-arr," a phone number read digit-by-digit vs. as a larger number). Spell out the intended pronunciation explicitly in the script text where ambiguity exists, rather than assuming a single correct default interpretation.
Troubleshooting mispronunciation.
When a specific word is consistently mispronounced, try respelling it phonetically in the script text as a workaround, or check whether the platform offers a pronunciation dictionary/lexicon feature for a more permanent fix across all future generations using that term.
