Navigating the Voice Library and Voice Selection

Lesson 3: Building a Voice Reference Library

Lesson Objectives

By the end of this lesson, students should be able to:

  • Document validated voice choices with relevant context
  • Organize a voice reference by content type or use case
  • Share a voice reference across a team
  • Maintain the reference as the voice library evolves

Lesson Content

Documenting validated choices.

For each validated voice selection, record: the voice name/ID, the use case it was selected for, and a brief note on why it was chosen (tone match, audience fit, brand alignment) – similar to the prompt/settings documentation practices in visual content platforms.

Organizing by content type or use case.

Structure the reference around recurring content categories (marketing narration, instructional content, customer-facing IVR, social media voiceover) rather than an undifferentiated list, making it quick to find the appropriate validated voice for a new piece of content matching an existing category.

Sharing across a team.

A shared, documented voice reference (similar to template and brand kit sharing in visual platforms) ensures team members select consistently rather than each independently evaluating and choosing voices for similar content types.

Maintaining the reference over time.

Voice libraries can change – new voices added, existing voices occasionally deprecated or modified. Periodically verify that referenced voices are still available and still represent the best current option, updating the reference as needed rather than letting it become outdated.
