Effective Prompting for Grok

Lesson 4: Build Your Grok Prompt Toolkit

Lesson Objectives

By the end of this lesson, students should be able to:

  • Build reusable prompts for Grok's main modes.
  • Test each prompt on several inputs.
  • Include verification notes with each prompt.

Lesson Content

A Grok toolkit has four prompt types:

  1. Draft: five components with fixed rules.
  2. Reason: "Think step by step, list assumptions, compare two approaches."
  3. Research (DeepSearch): time frame, source priority, exclusions, table output.
  4. Critique: "Be blunt; rank the top three problems against these criteria."

Each prompt gets a verification note (what to check before use). Test on three inputs; version improvements.
