Course overview

Course Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, students should be able to:

  • Explain what persists in Claude by default and what requires intentional setup
  • Configure Custom Instructions as an effective standing brief to Claude
  • Use Projects for organized, persistent long-term context
  • Create and maintain CLAUDE.md files for Code mode project context
  • Build and maintain an auto-memory system using the four memory types
  • Back up, protect, and restore their complete Claude memory setup
  • Check Claude output for accuracy, privacy, and rights before you use or share it

After enrolling, students can complete lesson quizzes as they move through the course.

The course final assessment unlocks after all required lessons and lesson quizzes are complete.

Learning Context

Students learn every layer of Claude's memory system – what persists by default, what requires setup, and how to build a complete persistent AI brain that retains their working relationship, preferences, and project knowledge across every session.

How this course works: each lesson explains the skill in plain language, shows a worked example, and ends with a student task you complete in Claude and a short quiz. The final assessment checks that you can apply the skill, not just remember it, and your saved prompts and results become reviewable training evidence.
