The ProEdit Video Editor
Lesson 2: Editing Script, Avatar, Visuals, and Layout
Lesson Objectives
By the end of this lesson, students should be able to:
- Edit a specific line of script and re-render the affected audio segment
- Swap the avatar in a ProEdit project
- Adjust the visual layout and background
- Insert an image or short video clip at a specific point in the timeline
Lesson Content
Editing script and voiceover.
The script/voiceover panel shows each line of the script mapped to a timeline segment. To edit a line:
- Select the segment in the script panel or click it in the timeline
- Edit the text directly in the script field
- Jogg.ai re-renders only the affected audio segment – not the entire video
- Preview the edited segment before moving on
Practical editing notes:
- Edit for accuracy first: wrong prices, incorrect features, competitor mentions
- Edit for naturalness second: unnatural sentence structures, overly formal language
- Edit the call to action last: ensure it is clear, specific, and directs the viewer to the correct action
Swapping the avatar.
To change the avatar in a ProEdit project:
- Open the Avatar panel
- Select a replacement avatar from the library
- Apply the change to the full video or to selected segments
Avatar swapping re-renders the affected segments. Significant avatar changes (different body type, different setting) may affect how the avatar interacts with background and layout elements – preview after swapping to check for visual inconsistencies.
Adjusting visual layout.
ProEdit allows layout adjustment – repositioning the avatar within the frame, changing the background setting, and adjusting the visual composition. This is useful for:
- Adapting a 16:9 video to 9:16 without losing the avatar's face
- Repositioning the avatar to make space for a text overlay
- Changing the background scene while keeping the same script and voice
Inserting visual elements.
Use the Elements panel to insert:
- Image inserts: Product photos, logos, screenshots – dragged to a specific timeline position with configurable display duration
- Video clips: Short footage clips (B-roll) layered over or replacing sections of the avatar video
- Animated elements: Motion graphics, icons, arrows, and accent elements from Jogg.ai's element library
All inserted elements appear on the elements track in the timeline and can be trimmed, repositioned, and layered.
