Lesson 3: ProEdit Voice Controls – Fine-Tuning Your Audio
Lesson Objectives
By the end of this lesson, students should be able to:
- Access voice controls in ProEdit
- Adjust playback speed for a more natural delivery
- Modify volume, stability, and style exaggeration settings
- Apply ProEdit voice edits to a specific line rather than the entire video
Lesson Content
ProEdit's voice customization controls.
After generating a video, ProEdit provides fine-grained controls over the voiceover audio. These controls let you refine delivery without re-recording or regenerating the entire video from scratch.
Key voice controls available in ProEdit (verify current availability at jogg.ai/knowledge-base/voice-proedit/):
Speed: Controls the speaking rate. Slow down if the delivery feels rushed; speed up if there are long, awkward pauses. Most natural delivery falls between 0.9 and 1.1 on a normalized scale.
Volume: Overall audio level of the voiceover relative to background music. Increase if voiceover is hard to hear; decrease if it overwhelms the music. Always balance so voice is clearly dominant.
Stability: Affects how consistent the voice sounds across the clip. Higher stability produces a more even, predictable delivery. Lower stability allows more natural variation but may introduce inconsistency in long clips.
Similarity: How closely the output resembles the source voice model. Higher similarity produces output that sounds more exactly like the source voice. Lower similarity allows more vocal variation.
Style exaggeration: Controls how expressive the delivery sounds. Higher values produce more animated, emphatic delivery; lower values produce flatter, more neutral delivery. Calibrate to match the script's intended emotional register.
Applying changes per segment.
ProEdit allows changes to be applied to the entire voiceover or to specific lines and segments. When only one section of the video has a delivery problem, target that segment specifically rather than adjusting the entire track – this prevents fixes from introducing new issues elsewhere.
When to re-generate vs. use ProEdit voice controls.
Use ProEdit voice controls when:
- The delivery is mostly good but slightly too fast or too flat
- Volume balance needs adjustment
- One or two lines need natural variation adjustment
Re-generate the voiceover when:
- The wrong voice was selected and the entire audio track needs to be replaced
- A major script change requires new audio throughout
