ChatGPT as a Review and Quality Assurance Partner

Lesson 4: Running a Full Quality Review on a Real Document

Lesson Objectives

By the end of this lesson, students should be able to:

  • Run a multi-pass quality review on a real document.
  • Separate what ChatGPT can review from what needs a human expert.
  • Produce a short review report with prioritized fixes.

Lesson Content

A full quality review uses several passes, each with one job:

  1. Criteria pass: does the document meet its purpose for its reader?
  2. Logic and consistency pass: do the arguments follow, and do numbers and claims agree?
  3. Checklist pass: your custom checklist for this document type.
  4. Red-team pass: "Act as the toughest reader. What would you attack?"
  5. Human-expert pass: anything legal, financial, medical, safety-related, or highly technical goes to a qualified person.

Then write a review report: the top three fixes (most important first), smaller fixes, and items sent to an expert. Fix in priority order.

A useful trick: run the review in a fresh chat, so ChatGPT is not influenced by earlier conversation where it helped write the document. A reviewer that helped write the draft tends to like it.
