Getting Started with Perplexity AI
Lesson 4: Your First Research Brief with Perplexity
Lesson Objectives
By the end of this lesson, students should be able to:
- Turn a real question into a one-page research brief with Perplexity.
- Verify key claims by opening citations and preferring primary sources.
- Separate what is confirmed, what is uncertain, and what to do next.
Lesson Content
A research brief is a short, reusable answer to a real question. Structure:
- Question: what you need to know, why, and how you will use it.
- Answer: three to five key findings.
- Sources: the original sources behind each finding, opened and checked.
- Confidence: confirmed, likely, or uncertain for each finding.
- Next step: what you will do with it.
Workflow: ask with the three-question framework, follow up on gaps, open the citations behind the most important findings, and replace secondary sources with primary ones when possible.
