Gemini as a Writing and Drafting Assistant

Lesson 4: From Outline to Final Draft in Google Docs

Lesson Objectives

By the end of this lesson, students should be able to:

  • Complete one document from outline to final draft using Gemini.
  • Use Gemini in Google Docs (or the Gemini app) for drafting and targeted revisions.
  • Deliver an accurate final draft in their own voice.

Lesson Content

The workflow:

  1. Architecture: outline plus argument map; confirm requirements.
  2. Draft: draft section by section from your notes. In Google Docs, Gemini can draft or rewrite selected text (availability depends on your plan or Workspace account).
  3. Layered revision: accuracy, structure, cut, style, one pass at a time.
  4. Voice check: compare against your voice profile; rewrite the opening and closing yourself.
  5. Fact check: list claims, dates, and numbers; verify important ones.
  6. Final read aloud.
