Gemini for Learning and Skill Building
Lesson 4: Build a Personal Study System with Gemini
Lesson Objectives
By the end of this lesson, students should be able to:
- Combine a learning path, active recall, and spaced review into one study system.
- Use a Gem (or a saved prompt) as a consistent study coach.
- Track progress and adjust the system weekly.
Lesson Content
A personal study system has four parts:
- The path: the phased plan from Lesson 1.
- The coach: a Gem configured with your level, goal, and study rules ("one question at a time," "explain mistakes," "use my course notes"). If Gems are not available on your plan, save the instructions as a prompt you paste at the start of each session.
- The source: your own materials. Tools like NotebookLM can ground explanations and quizzes in documents you upload, which reduces made-up content.
- The tracker: a simple sheet with date, topic, score, and what to review next.
Spaced review: revisit each topic after 1, 3, and 7 days. Active recall plus spacing builds memory that lasts.
