Lesson 1: Roles and Permissions You Can Prove
Lesson Objectives
By the end of this lesson, students should be able to:
- Write a roles and permissions matrix.
- Test each role with a test account.
- Fix permission gaps with specific requests.
Lesson Content
A roles matrix lists, for each role and each table, whether the role can view, add, change, or delete:
- Customer: Orders – view own, add own; cannot see others.
- Staff: Orders – view all, change status; cannot delete.
- Owner: everything, including delete and export.
Write it as a list (one line per role and table). Then test: sign in as each role and try to see or change something it should not.
