Service Workshop – Bubble, Glide, Bolt, and Replit
Lesson 3: Bolt – Code Generation, Tokens, and Deploys
Lesson Objectives
By the end of this lesson, students should be able to:
- Build a small web app in Bolt.
- Manage token costs as the app grows.
- Deploy to a hosting account and connect a repository.
Lesson Content
Bolt (bolt.new, from StackBlitz) generates web app code in your browser from chat. It bills by tokens (verify current plans), so each request costs more as the app grows. Habits:
- Keep requests small and targeted ("change only the header component").
- Remove unused files and features.
- Use discussion or planning before large changes.
- Deploy to a hosting account you control (Bolt has connected to services such as Netlify) and connect GitHub for code ownership.
