Service Workshop – Bubble, Glide, Bolt, and Replit
Lesson 2: Glide – Apps on Top of Your Spreadsheets
Lesson Objectives
By the end of this lesson, students should be able to:
- Build a Glide app from a sheet or Glide table.
- Protect data with row owners.
- Estimate updates for pricing.
Lesson Content
Glide (glideapps.com) turns spreadsheet-style data into clean, phone-friendly apps. Glide has introduced an AI builder alongside its classic editor (verify current product names and plans).
Key concepts:
- Data source: a Google Sheet, Excel file, or Glide's own tables.
- Row owners: a setting that makes a row visible only to the user whose email is in that row. Hiding a screen is not the same as protecting data; use row owners.
- Updates: Glide plans count data changes; active apps use more.
