Writing the App Brief – The Credit Saver

Lesson 5: The Look and Your First Build Prompt

Lesson Objectives

By the end of this lesson, students should be able to:

  • Describe visual style in plain words.
  • Assemble a one-page brief.
  • Write a first build prompt from the brief.

Lesson Content

The look: brand colors, mood words (clean, friendly, professional), a reference site you like, mobile-first or desktop-first, and accessibility needs (large text, high contrast).

First build prompt: the builder works best when the first message is complete but focused:

"Build a mobile-friendly web app for [business]. Users: [list]. Screens: [list]. Data: [tables and key fields]. Main flow: [steps]. Must-haves: [list]. Do not build yet: [not-now]. Never: [never list]. Look: [style]. Start with the screens and data only; do not add extra features."
