AI Answer Checking Basics
Lesson 4: The Two-Minute Answer Check Routine
Lesson Objectives
By the end of this lesson, students should be able to:
- Use one repeatable routine to check any AI answer.
- Match the amount of checking to how much a mistake would cost.
- Use a second AI pass as a helper without treating it as proof.
Lesson Content
Not every answer needs the same amount of checking. Use a simple scale:
- Low stakes (a party theme, a playlist name): a quick read is enough.
- Medium stakes (a work email, a study summary): check facts, tone, and promises.
- High stakes (money, health, legal, safety, anything public): verify every claim with a trusted source or a qualified person.
The routine: CLAIMS
- Claims: list the facts and numbers.
- Links: open any sources.
- Assumptions: ask what the AI assumed.
- Invented details: compare against what you provided.
- Math: re-check key numbers.
- Sign-off: would you put your name on it?
A second AI pass is a helper, not proof. You can ask "Review your answer for errors and list anything you are unsure about." This often catches problems. But the AI checking itself is still the AI. For high-stakes items, you or a qualified person must confirm.
