AI Privacy and Safety Basics
Lesson 2: Safer Practice Material
Lesson Objectives
By the end of this lesson, students should be able to:
- Explain the idea in plain words.
- Use the idea on a small practice task.
- Check whether the AI answer is useful enough to keep.
Lesson Content
You can learn almost every AI habit with pretend material. A pretend customer, pretend product, pretend budget, or public sample paragraph is enough for practice.
Professional Use Case: You test a support workflow using a fake customer complaint before using the pattern on real support messages.
Student task: Create a pretend customer support issue and ask AI to draft a kind, clear response. Copy the response into a notes file and mark anything that sounds too certain or too personal. Student task help: Use pretend, public, or low-risk practice material. Copying the first AI answer into a text editor means pasting it into a plain text or document editor so you can compare it with your revised answer. A clarification prompt is a short follow-up that tells the AI what to fix, add, remove, or explain. Example clarification prompt: "Make this easier for a beginner, add one concrete example, and show the next three steps as a checklist."
Starter scenario: "A customer says their online course lesson will not load. They are frustrated because they only have one hour to study tonight. Draft a calm support reply with three troubleshooting steps and no promises about refunds."
Troubleshooting: If the reply sounds cold, ask for warmer wording. If it promises too much, ask it to remove guarantees and show what support can actually do.
Quality Rubric:
- The practice case uses pretend details.
- The reply is helpful without overpromising.
- You can reuse the prompt pattern later with real data handled safely.
