Gemini Command Workflows – Google Workspace, Research, and Multimodal Tasks
Lesson 3: When Gemini Commands Miss – Troubleshooting and Recovery
Lesson Objectives
By the end of this lesson, students should be able to:
- Diagnose why a Gemini command produced a weak or blocked result.
- Apply a targeted recovery prompt for each failure type.
- Decide when to stop and do the task manually.
Lesson Content
Common failure types and recoveries:
- No access: Gemini cannot see the file or service. Check connected apps, sharing permissions, and account type. Recovery: connect the service or paste the needed text.
- Wrong scope: it summarized the wrong document or too much. Recovery: name the exact file or paste the section.
- Stale or weak sources: research used old or unofficial pages. Recovery: require official sources and dates.
- Vague format: results vary. Recovery: specify the exact format.
- Invented details: it filled gaps. Recovery: "Use only the source; write NOT STATED when missing."
Stop rule: if two recovery attempts fail on a high-stakes task, do it manually or ask a qualified person.
