AI Work Basics – What AI Can and Cannot Reliably Do
Lesson 4: Your First Real AI Task, Start to Finish
Lesson Objectives
By the end of this lesson, students should be able to:
- Plan a small real task before opening an AI tool.
- Run the task with a clear prompt, one check, and one improvement.
- Save a simple record they can reuse next time.
Lesson Content
This lesson puts the course together into one routine you can use for almost any small task. We call it Plan, Ask, Check, Keep:
- Plan: Write down the job, the reader, and the facts in one or two lines before you open the AI tool.
- Ask: Give the facts, the reader, the format, the length, and one rule (such as "do not add new facts").
- Check: Look for the five problems: made-up facts, missing context, out-of-date details, wrong tone, wrong job.
- Keep: Save the prompt that worked. Next time you only change the details.
Saving the prompt is the step most beginners skip, and it is the one that saves the most time. A good prompt is a reusable recipe.
