AI Assistant Basics for Business Owners

Lesson 1: What an AI Assistant Is

Lesson Objectives

By the end of this lesson, students should be able to:

  • Describe an AI assistant as a drafting, thinking, and organizing helper.
  • Name common business tasks where an assistant can help.
  • Name tasks where the owner remains responsible.

Lesson Content

Plain-language view: an AI assistant is like a very fast helper that can read, draft, summarize, compare, and suggest. It does not become the business owner. It does not know your full business unless you provide context. It can sound confident while still being wrong.

Use AI for first drafts, summaries, checklists, ideas, comparisons, rewrite options, meeting-note cleanup, customer message drafts, and planning outlines. Use human judgment for promises, prices, legal claims, medical claims, financial decisions, hiring decisions, private customer information, and anything that could harm trust if it is wrong.

The safest beginner habit is simple: ask for help with non-sensitive information first, review the answer, and improve it with a follow-up.
