Prompt Foundations for Business Owners

Lesson 6: Save Prompts as Business Assets

Lesson Objectives

By the end of this lesson, students should be able to:

  • Save a reusable prompt card with fill-in fields.
  • Add test cases so a prompt can be checked later.
  • Decide when a prompt is ready for personal use, team use, or customer-facing work.

Lesson Content

Plain-language view: a prompt becomes valuable when it stops living only in your memory. If it helps you once, save it. If it helps twice, turn it into a small business asset. If someone else can use it correctly, it is becoming a process.

A reusable prompt card should include:

Prompt name: what job this prompt does.

Best used for: the business situation where it helps.

Inputs needed: the facts the user must fill in.

Prompt text: the reusable instruction.

Output format: the sections, table, or checklist expected.

Review checklist: what the user must verify before using the result.

Test cases: two or three sample inputs that prove the prompt still works.

Owner note: who approved it and when to review it again.

This keeps AI usage from becoming random. It also protects the business when a prompt is used for customer replies, public statements, vendor decisions, hiring messages, marketing claims, software requirements, or operational checklists.
