Creative Workflows and Prompt Strategy
Lesson 1: Systematic Prompt Strategies
Lesson Objectives
By the end of this lesson, students should be able to:
- Develop a repeatable prompt structure for a specific visual style
- Apply a consistent prompt template across different subjects
- Understand how prompt consistency produces visual consistency
- Adapt a base prompt structure for variations within a project
Lesson Content
Prompt templates for visual consistency.
A prompt template is a structure that defines the consistent elements (style, camera approach, quality modifiers, lighting) while leaving subject-specific elements as variables. For example: "[subject description], cinematic close-up, dramatic side lighting, shallow depth of field, photorealistic, 8K" – where the bracketed element changes per subject while everything else remains constant across a series. This produces a visually consistent series without requiring full prompt construction from scratch each time.
Consistent modifiers as a style signature.
Developing a small set of consistent quality and style modifiers that reliably produce a visual style matching your creative aesthetic – and applying these consistently across a body of work – creates a recognizable visual signature. The modifiers become your production-ready prompt component, adapted per project but maintained as a consistent foundation.
Testing template reliability.
Before relying on a prompt template for production, test it with several different subjects to verify it produces consistently aligned results across variety – a template that works for landscape subjects may not maintain the same visual style when applied to portraits or abstract content.
Adapting templates for variations.
Within a project, adapt the subject-specific elements while keeping the template structure constant – producing visual variation within a consistent style framework. This is the basis of producing a cohesive visual series rather than individually inconsistent generations.
