Lesson Content

Runway's tool-based interface.

Runway organizes its capabilities as distinct tools accessible from the main interface – text-to-video generation, image-to-video, video-to-video (applying AI effects to existing footage), inpainting, masking, and other editing tools. These are accessed from the main navigation or dashboard. Verify the current specific tool names and navigation at runwayml.com, as the interface is actively updated with new model releases.

The generation workspace.

Each generation tool provides a workspace for configuring inputs – entering a text prompt, uploading a reference image, or selecting a source video – and generation settings before initiating generation. Understanding the generation workspace layout (where inputs go, where generation settings appear, how to initiate and monitor generation) is foundational for all other Runway work.

Assets library.

Generated clips and uploaded source materials are stored in the assets library, which provides access to previous generations for download, use in editing tools, or extension. Organizing assets with clear naming helps manage a growing library of generated content.

Projects and organization.

Runway provides project-level organization for grouping related assets and generations. Using projects to organize work by campaign, client, or creative brief makes a growing asset library navigable.
