Professional client relationships for AI image work begin with accurate expectation setting: AI image generation involves iteration and selection – results improve through a refinement process, not single-attempt delivery. Setting this expectation before production begins prevents client surprise at normal iteration requirements and establishes the professional production context accurately.

Structured review workflow.

Present AI-generated deliverables in a curated review format – selected best results organized for efficient client review, not the full generation history. A structured review: 3-5 curated options per deliverable, clearly organized, with a clear explanation of which elements in each option serve the brief. Clients make better decisions with structured presentation than with overwhelming undifferentiated output.

Professional delivery formats.

Deliver files in the format the client's workflow requires: PNG for transparency-capable assets, JPG for photographic content, specified DPI for print, specified pixel dimensions for digital use. Include a delivery note that identifies the AI-generated nature of the content, the applicable rights terms summary, and any recommended post-processing steps needed before use.

Handling revision requests.

When a client requests changes to AI-generated images: diagnose what specifically needs to change, assess which approach best addresses the request (prompt refinement, regeneration, or post-processing), communicate clearly what is achievable and on what timeline, and manage expectations about what AI generation can and cannot change about an existing image.
