Lesson Content

Creating a Midjourney account.

Midjourney requires an account and active subscription for image generation – there is no permanent free tier (as of this writing; verify current access policy at midjourney.com). Account creation is through the Midjourney website. Midjourney has historically been accessed through Discord; a dedicated web interface has been rolling out – verify current interface access options at midjourney.com.

Interface options: Discord vs. web.

Midjourney's Discord-based interface uses commands in Discord channels – /imagine to generate, with results appearing as Discord messages. The web interface provides a more traditional web application experience. Both produce the same generation quality; the web interface provides a more organized, less crowded experience for dedicated use. This course references both – verify which interface options are currently available to your subscription tier.

Subscription model and GPU usage.

Midjourney subscriptions operate on a GPU-time or "fast hours" model – you receive a monthly allocation of fast generation time, and additional "relax mode" generation (slower, but unlimited on some plans) may be available. Understanding your plan's limits before starting a high-volume session avoids unexpected usage limits. Verify current plan options and pricing at midjourney.com.

Basic interface navigation.

Core navigation: where to enter prompts, how to access past generations (gallery or Discord history), how to access generation settings, and how to find help. Spend time with the interface before the first generation session to build a mental map of where controls are.
