Lesson Content

Subscription tier and commercial rights.

Leonardo AI's commercial usage rights vary by subscription tier – paid plans generally include commercial use rights while free tier usage may be more restricted. The specific terms are defined in Leonardo AI's current Terms of Service and change over time. Verify current commercial rights at leonardo.ai/terms before representing commercial rights to clients. Do not rely on this course material for current rights information – platform terms change.

What commercial rights typically cover.

Commercial rights generally allow: using generated images in client projects, marketing materials, advertising, products for sale, and commercial deliverables. Typical limitations: copyright ownership of AI-generated output is a complex and evolving legal question (AI-generated images may not be protectable as human-authored copyrights in most jurisdictions – consult legal counsel); commercial rights don't grant exclusive rights that prevent others from generating similar images; and rights don't extend to content generated through unauthorized use of training data.

Free tier limitations.

Free tier usage typically carries additional restrictions – often including non-commercial use only or attribution requirements. Using free-tier-generated images in commercial projects without verifying the applicable free-tier rights may violate the Terms of Service. Verify current free tier terms before any commercial use.

Client contract language.

Commercial client contracts for AI-generated deliverables should: disclose that images are AI-generated; summarize the applicable commercial rights from the relevant plan; note the complex copyright status of AI-generated images; and recommend the client obtain their own legal review before regulated commercial use (e.g., regulated advertising, licensed product applications).
